(I’ll have everything but the pipe and the jacket with the elbow patches.) If you do not live in one of those two cities, I apologize; right now, there’s nothing scheduled elsewhere. In addition, I will be attending a very special event next week: a screening of River Phoenix’s last movie, Dark Blood. This film went unfinished for twenty years–he was in the middle of filming it when he died, and it was long considered impossible to complete. But recently, director George Sluizer liberated the raw footage from the insurance company’s storage facility and cut it together, using narration to cover for a few gaps in the narrative. There have been a handful of festival screenings in Europe, but it’s never played Los Angeles before. (I saw it in Amsterdam last year, and although it has some rough spots, I found it quite moving. If you’re a serious River Phoenix fan, you won’t want to miss it.)
