Ventures in the Slipstream
I was lucky enough to attend Van Morrison’s show at the Hollywood Bowl Saturday night where he performed the entirety of Astral Weeks.
Single-word reaction: Wow.
I should have a full-length review in the next issue of Rolling Stone, but I also filed a short dispatch (with a set list, which isn’t as pointless as you might guess–he shuffled the album’s playing order) for the magazine’s website, which you can read here.

Did Van breathe in and breathe out, breathe in and breathe out, breathe in and breathe out, breathe in and breathe out, breathe in and breathe out, getting high on his high-flying cloud?
(Sorry…Astral Weeks was one disc we could play at Nadine meetings that Ted, Kate, Jay, Andrea and I could all enjoy, and that line in “Beside You” always cracked Jay up.)
