Friday Foto: Astronomers Monument

Just outside of Griffith Observatory, there’s an amazing piece of WPA art (technically PWAP, actually, but sponsored by the New Deal). The sculpture features six astronomers: Hipparchus, Copernicus, Galileo, Kepler, Newton, and Herschel.

Taken two weeks ago, on a walk around the Silver Lake reservoir. As far as I can tell, that’s an annex to the reservoir–currently empty except for what appears to be a whole lot of black foam rubber.
